What is a Pipe Organ Encounter?

  • A Pipe Organ Encounter (POE) is an exciting week-long event for teens to discover the wonders of the pipe organ!

  • The POE is designed for students, ages 13-18, who have achieved an early intermediate  level of keyboard proficiency. Previous organ study is not required.

  •  The POE will offer students daily individual lessons, as well as group instruction in hymn playing, improvisation, registration, and other topics.

  • Most importantly, this event will provide a unique opportunity for participants to meet and interact with peers and professionals from around the country who have similar interests.


  • Individual and group instruction with renowned faculty from across the United States

  • Experience playing on a wide variety of world class pipe organs, including the four manual, 90 rank Casavant at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (pictured on cover), and the Taylor & Boody and Wolff organs at Christ Church Cathedral.

  • A day trip to the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington, home to the largest university organ department in the country

  • Recitals by distinguished faculty members and guest artists
